Eagle Passan Ruben O. Valadez Sworn-In as Attorney by Judge Amado J. Abascal, III

Over 100 Eagle Passans witnessed the swearing-in of newly Texas licensed attorney Ruben O. Valadez by Honorable Amado J. Abascal, III, of the 365th Judicial District Court, Maverick County, Texas on Tuesday, May 31, 2016 in Eagle Pass, Texas.
Langley & Banack law firm partner John Petry introduced Valadez and moved to the Court that he be officially sworn-in as a Texas attorney after passing the February 2016 Bar Exam. The Court granted the motion to swear-in Valadez.
Judge Amado J. Abascal, III proceeded to administer the oath and swore-in Ruben O. Valadez.
Ruben O. Valadez is a 2006 graduate of St. Mary’s University School of Law. Valadez also earned a Bachelor of Journalism degree in 2001 from the University of Missouri at Columbia. In 2013, Valdez earned a Master of Education in Administration from Sul Ross State University. He also graduated from Eagle Pass High School in 2002.
Valadez joined the faculty at Eagle Pass High School in 2008 and served as an advisor for the school’s yearbook, newspaper, and literary magazine.
In 2013, Valadez became an Assistant Principal at Eagle Pass High School. Mr. Valadez has dedicated his career to the fields of communication, journalism, First Amendment research and advocacy, and education. He is a former McNair Scholar and Reynold Journalism Institute Summer Journalism Fellow. He was a contributor to the online textbook “Searchlights and Sunglasses: Field Notes From the Digital Age of Journalism,” written by Eric Newton in conjunction with the Knight Foundation. Mr. Valadez plans to practice in the areas of Appellate Law and School Law with the law firm of Langley & Banack of San Antonio and Eagle Pass, Texas.
Valadez was accompanied by his lovely wife, Christina Ramon Valadez, and their three children, his mother, Marcela Dolores Aguirre, aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, relatives, friends, and members of the Langley & Banack law firm, including John Petry, Catrina Purcell Longoria, Patrick Kelly, Mireya Hernandez as well as many members of the Maverick County Bar Association.
Valadez addressed the audience and thanked everyone in attendance for their loyal support through the years in pursuing his legal studies and passing the bar exam. He thanked his lovely wife, Christina, and their children for always being supportive of him, his beloved mother, Marcela Dolores Aguirre, for nurturing and supporting him through his life and studies, his relatives, the members of the Langley & Banack law firm, his colleagues at Eagle Pass High School, family, and friends. Valadez stated he looks forward to practicing law.
Following the swearing-in, a reception was held in the first floor of the historic Maverick County Courthouse with complimentary refreshments and catered food.
