Head-On Auto Collison leaves one person dead & two injured on U.S. Highway 277 North in Maverick County

A head-on auto collision between two pick-up trucks on U.S. Highway 277 North in Maverick County, Texas at approximately 3:30 P.M. has left one person dead and two others injured on Wednesday, June 8, 2016, announced the Maverick County Sheriff’s Department.
The auto collision occurred at the intersection of U.S. Highway 277 North and FM 131 in Maverick County, Texas, near the Radar Base in Normandy, Texas. A 1998 Dodge Pick-Up truck and a 2012 Ford F-250 Pick-Up truck were involved in the fatal accident. A male driver of the Dodge pick-up truck passed away at the scene of the accident while his wife was airlifted to a San Antonio, Texas medical hospital for treatment. The driver of the Ford pick-up truck was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
The deceased driver was identified as Venancio De La Garza, age 72, of Del Rio, Texas.
The preliminary investigation found that Venancio De La Garza was traveling on FM 131 and arrived to the intersection of FM 131 and US Highway 277 North and entered Highway 277 North when the Ford F-250 was traveling north and struck De La Garza’s Dodge pick-up on the driver’s side.
The fatal Collison is under investigation of the Texas Department of Public Safety and Maverick County Sheriff’s Department.
