Uvalde Man causes auto accident in stolen truck in Eagle Pass

Eagle Pass Police Departmet Lieutenant Aldo Escamilla announced that Angel Rogelio Lopez, age 21, of Uvalde, Texas was arrested for causing an auto accident with a stolen 2010 Chevrolet 2500 pick-up truck on Wednesday, June 8, 2016 in downtown Eagle Pass, Texas at the intersection of Jefferson Street and Rio Grande Street, hitting two vehicles.
The 2010 Chevrolet 2500 Chevrolet pick-up truck was reported stolen in Batesville, Texas by an oil and gas company.
Lopez was driving the stolen 2010 Chevrolet 2500 pick-up truck and left the scene of the accident by walking towards the Eagle Pass International Bridge No. I, where he was arrested before fleeing to Mexico.
Lopez was arrested for evading arrest and the unauthorized use of the 2010 Chevrolet 2500 pick-up truck without the owner’s consent.
Lopez was transported to the Maverick County Tom Bowles Detention Center. Lopez was found to be on community supervision (probation) for another offense while causing the auto accident in Eagle Pass.
The case remains under investigation by the Eagle Pass Police Department.
