Pioneer Pre-School & Kindergarten Educator Gloria M. Barrientos-Rodriguez passes away in Eagle Pass, TX

Eagle Passan and Pioneer Pre-School and Kindergarten Educator Gloria M. Barrientos-Rodriguez passed away at the age of 90 on Friday, October 7, 2016 in Eagle Pass, Texas. She was born on November 18, 1925 to Luz and Eudelio Martinez in San Antonio, Texas.
Barrientos-Rodriguez dedicated over 45 years of her professional life educating the children of Eagle Pass, Texas. She started working as a Kindergarten teacher at Our Lady of Refuge School and later founded and directed her own pre-school and kindergarten known as “Lad and Lassie Kindergarten” in Eagle Pass. She touched and inspired hundreds of children from Eagle Pass to get a solid education and graduate from college, including many students who became successful professionals such as doctors, attorneys, teachers, nurses, engineers, architects, and entrepreneurs. She single-handedly influenced several generations of children through her pre-school and kindergarten “Lad and Lassie” to become productive citizens in society. Many of whom today credit her for inspiring them to follow their dreams and succeed.
Barrientos-Rodriguez faith in the Lord and family came first. She was a devoted mother, wife, grandmother, sister, and aunt. She loved her family dearly and enjoyed them all.
She is survived by her husband, Emilio Rodriguez; son, Rene Barrientos; daughters, Diana, Nelda, and Patricia; grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters, nephews, and nieces.
Her funeral services are under the direction of Barrera Morturary with a Memorial Service scheduled on Wednesday, October 12, 2016, from 4 P.M. through 9 P.M., including a Rosay at 7 P.M. Mass will be held on Thursday, October 13, 2016 at 11 A.M. at Our Lady of Reguge Catholic Church and interment following the mass at the Our Lady of Refuge Cemetery in Eagle Pass, Texas.
