Eagle Pass Mayor and Councilmember Places 2 & 4 scheduled for Election on May 6, 2017
The City of Eagle Pass, Texas City Council approved to schedule and hold the general election for the City positions of Mayor, Councilmember Place 2, and Councilmember Place 4 on Saturday, May 6, 2017 at the City’s Multi-Purpose Center, located at 480 South Adams Street, in Eagle Pass.
The position of Mayor is currently held by Ramsey English Cantu while Councilmember Place 2 is held by Mayor Pro-Tem Rudy Villalpando and Councilmember Place 4 is held by Luis E. Sifuentes. Only these three positions will be up for election. Councilmember Place 1 Gloria E. Hernandez and Councilmember Place 3 Yolanda P. Ramon are not up for re-election on May 6th.
All Eagle Pass citizens interested in running for one of these three public positions on the Eagle Pass City Council may register with City Secretary Imelda Rodriguez at City Hall, located at 100 South Monroe Street, during January 18, 2017 through February 17, 2017 from 8 A.M. through 5 P.M. There is no registration fee to sign-up as a candidate for one these three positions.
The requirements for registering as a candidate are that you be a United States Citizen, be at least 18 years old, be a resident of the City of Eagle Pass for a minimum of six months and of the State of Texas for 12 months, not be convicted of a felony criminal offense, and not have been adjudged mentally incompetent by a Court of Law or Judge.
Early voting for the Eagle Pass City Election will commence on Monday, April 24, 2017 and run through May 1, 2017 at the Multi-Purpose Center. Extended voting hours have been designated for April 24th and May 1st from 8 A.M. through 8 P.M. while other early voting dates will be from 8 A.M. through 5 P.M.
Election Day on May 6th will have the poll open from 7 A.M. through 7 P.M. at the Multi-Purpose Center.
Election Judge will be Ramon Ramirez while Early Voting Judge will be Arturo Delgado.
