2017 Maverick County Junior Livestock Show Food, Art & Photography Contest Winners announced

The 2017 Maverick County Junior Livestock Show (MCJLS) Food, Art and Photography Contest Winners were announced by MCJLS Board President Tim Hardt.
In the 2017 MCJLS Food Show and Contest, Julia Gomez’s “Old Fashion Pecan Pie” was named the Grand Champion while Brizeira Villasenor and Justin Rodriguez’s “Sopapilla Cheesecake Pie” was named Reserve Champion. Judges reported these two entries as being “delicious, scrumptious, and delicate and sweet tasting.” Congratulations to all entries in the Food Show and Contest.
In the 2017 MCJLS Art Show and Contest, in the First and Second Grade category Saul Hernandez’s painting was named Grand Champion while Kamila Grace Minton was named Reserve Champion; and in the Third and Fourth Grade category, Luis R. Talamantes’ entry was named Grand Champion while Caitlyn Cardenas was named Reserve Champion.
In the 2017 MCJLS Photography Show and Contest, in the Adult Division Monique Marquez swept the Grand Champion Award; Janet Martinez Andrade was named Reserve Champion; People category, Monique Marquez won; Food category, Monique Marquez won; Nature category, Monique Marquez won; Night category, San Juanita Hernandez won; and in the Animal category, Monique Marquez won.
In the Photography Show and Contest Senior Division among Junior High and High School entries, Gaby Olivas entry was named Grand Champion while Julian Vasquez was named Reserve Champion; People category, Larissa Alvarez won; Nature category, Angel De La Pena won; Landscape category, Armando Trevino won; Night category, Ricardo Rodriguez won; and in the Animal category, Sofia Ballesteros won.
In the Photography Show and Contest Junior Division among Elementary School entries, Caitlyn Cardenas entry won Grand Champion while Carilyn Cardenas was named Reserve Champion; People category, Domingo Garcia won; Nature category, Carilyn Cardenas won; and in the Animal Category, Domingo Garcia won.
