2017 Muy Grande Cook-Off Winners Announced

The Second Annual (2017) Muy Grande Cook-Off held in collaboration with the Maverick County Junior Livestock Show and Sale announced its winners. Each participant had to prepare an entry in the Brisket category, Ribs category, and Chicken category with the participant scoring overall the highest points among the three categories being named Grand Champion.
The Second Annual Muy Grande Cook-Off was held on January 20-21, 2017 at the Zan Mathies Show Barn in Eagle Pass, Texas.
After two full days of competition, Robert Roiz of “PMB” was crowned the Grand Champion in the Second Annual Muy Grande Cook-Off while Robert Fuentes of “The Smokin Roadrunners” was named Reserve Grand Champion.
In the Brisket category, Ruben Romero of “Romero’s Backyard Griller” won first place; J.J. Rodriguez of “218 Pitmasters” came in second place; Jorge Flores II of “CSM Cooking” won third place; Robert Fuentes of “the Smokin Roadrunners” came in fourth place; Robert Roiz of “PMB” won fifth place; Alfino Flores of “Pistoleros BBQ” came in sixth place; Sergio Yebra of “Popsi’s Team Yebraski won seventh place; Ron Saenz of “No Gimmicks” came in eighth place; Art Zamora of “Amigo’s BBQ” won ninth place; and Joey Jimenez of “Shade Tree Bar-B-Que came in 10th place.
In the Ribs category, Robert Fuentes of “the Smokin Roadrunners” won first place; Tracy Douthit of “Howl at the Moon” won second place; Joey Vasquez of “Lone Star BBQ” won third place; Robert Roiz of “PMB” won fourth place; Sergio Yebra of “Popsi’s Team Yebraski” won fifth place; George Avalos of “Avalos Family BBQ” won sixth place; Wade Carpenter of “Los Show Cookers” won seventh place; Jonathan Bonds of “River Rats BBQ” won eighth place; Ruben Romero of “Romero’s Backyard Griller” won ninth place; and Bobby Salas of “Bar-B-Cuties” won tenth place.
In the Chicken category, Bobby Salas of “Bar-B-Cuties” won first place; Robert Roiz of “PMB” won second place; Mike Reyes of “Whatcha Smokin” won third place; Joey Vasquez of “Lone Star BBQ” won fourth place; Wade Carpenter of “Los Slow Cookers” won fifth place; Tracy Douthit of “Howl at the Moon” won sixth place; Johhny Humphreys of “Sonora Welding Shop” won seventh place; Robert Fuentes of “the Smokin Roadrunners” won eighth place; Jonathan Bonds of “River Rats BBQ” won ninth place; and Joey Jimenez of “Shade Tree Bar-B-Que” won tenth place.
