Eagle Pass Home Builder, Cattleman & Sportsman Jerry Nowlin passes away
JERRILL CARTER NOWLIN, 83, passed on to eternal life on February 27, 2017 in San Antonio, Texas. He was at peace with God, having accepted the sacrifice of Christ and was surrounded by the love of his wife, Juanita and family.
Honorary Graveside Services for 1ST LT. Jerrill Carter Nowlin will be at 1:45 pm on March 15, 2017 at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Road, San Antonio,TX 78209
Visitation is 6-8pm. March 14, 2017 with private family visitation at 5pm. at Sunset Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 1701 Austin Hwy. San Antonio, TX 78218
A Celebration of Life for Jerrill Nowlin, active citizen of Eagle Pass for 54 years, will be held in his “office” 6pm. March 10, 2017 at the Border Café banquet room, 3025 US Hwy 57, Eagle Pass, TX 78852.

Jerrill Nowlin was born near Wynnewood, Oklahoma on January 29, 1934 to Paul and Sylvia Nowlin. He married his high school sweetheart, Juanita Estelle Bates of Sapulpa, OKlahoma on June 29, 1953. He is survived by his wife of almost 64 years, Juanita Nowlin and sister, Judy Karen Anderson and James of Casper, Wyoming and sister-in-law, Helen Nowlin of Carl Junction, Missouri. Children are Brenda Cheryl Lanig, husband Jackie of Temple, TX, Gregg Anthony Nowlin of Eagle Pass, Valorie Jane Farley, husband Tony of Mounds, Oklahoma and Tina Renee Jackson, husband Brian of Castroville, TX. Ten grandchildren are: Jeremy, Jordan and Jared Lanig, Travis, Lane and Paige Nowlin, Aaron Hinojosa, Lcpl. Tye Jackson, Sgt. Jay Jackson and Katrina Jackson. They also have seven great- grandchildren.
Jerrill Nowlin was preceded in death by his father, Paul M. Nowlin, mother, Sylvia Stults Nowlin and brother, Gary Douglas Nowlin.
Jerrill graduated Magna Cum Laude from Wichita State University, Kansas. He served his country as Navigator and Instructor in the US Air Force, stationed at Ellington Air Force Base, Houston, TX and Harlingen Air Force Base, Harlingen, TX.
Jerrill and Juanita settled in Eagle Pass in 1963. Together they built homes and developed subdivisions under the name of Eagle Builders, Inc. Jerrill, also known as “Jerry” and Juanita were cattle ranchers in Maverick County. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying running, hunting, fishing and camping as well as sports. They regularly attended Eagle Pass High School football games for about 45 years.
He invested much time and love in his children and grandchildren assuring them of education and life experiences as a family in the great outdoors.
Jerrill Nowlin was an active member Maverick County Farm Bureau and related community service and scholarship program.
Having enjoyed 83 wonderful years of life with family and friends, Jerrill Carter Nowlin entered into eternal life.
