Several People Hurt in 18 Wheeler and Pick-Up Truck Collision on U.S. Highway 83 in Dimmit County, TX

Dimmit County, Texas Sheriff’s Department reports a collision between an 18 Wheeler Tractor-Trailer and a Pick-Up Truck at approximately 7 A.M. on Thursday, April 6, 2017 near Asherton, Texas has injured several people and closed traffic on U.S. Highway 83.

The 18 Wheeler Tractor-Trailer caught on fire as a result of the accident, requiring that the tractor-trailer fire be extinguished by fire department personnel.

One person injured in the accident was airlifted by helicopter to a San Antonio, Texas medical facility for treatment of their injuries.

Traffic between Asherton, Texas and Catarina, Texas on U.S. Highway 83 has been temporarily closed due to clean up efforts and investigation of the accident.  

The Texas Department of Public Safety and Dimmit County Sheriff’s Department are investigating the accident.
