Eagle Passan Christian Garcia Wins 2017 Lone Star Conference Outdoor Track & Field Meet Shotput Throw Championship

Eagle Passan Christian Garcia competing for the Texas A & M University at Kingsville Javalinas Track and Field Team captured the 2017 Lone Star Conference Outdoor Track and Field Meet Shotput Throw Championship on Friday, May 5, 2017 with a First Place throw of 55′ 6.5″ (16.93m) held at the Texas A & M University at Commerce Memorial Stadium in Commerce, Texas, qualifying for the NCAA Division II 2017 National Outdoor Track and Field Championship Meet.
Garcia repeats as the Lone Star Star Conference Outdoor Track and Field Meet Shot Put Throw Champion, an event that he has successfully won for two consecutive years 2016 and 2017. In addition, Garcia won the 2017 Lone Star Conference Indoor Track and Field Meet Shotput Throw Championship with a throw of 56′ 7.25″ (17.25m) earlier this year in Colorado.
Garcia also placed eighth in the 2017 Lone Star Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championship Meet in the Discus Throw (151′ 8″/46.22m) at Memorial Stadium in Commerce, Texas.
Garcia participated as a two-sport student athlete for the Texas A & M University at Kingsville Javalinas playing football and track and field.
Garcia was named to the Lone Star Conference Indoor All-Track and Field Team (First Team) in 2017, the Lone Star Conference Indoor All-Academic Track and Field Team in 2017, the Lone Star Conference Outdoor All-Track and Field Team (First Team) in 2016, 2016 U.S. Track and Field and Cross-Country Coaches Association All-American Team, placed 11th at the 2016 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Meet in Shotput Throw, placed fourth in the 2016 Lone Star Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championship Meet in Discus Throw, and won the Bronze Medal (Third Place) in the 2013 Lone Star Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championship Meet in Shotput Throw.
Garcia graduated in December 2017 from Texas A & M University at Kingsville with a Bachelor’s degree and is currently enrolled at TAMUK as a graduate student pursuing a Master’s degree. He is a 2012 graduate of Eagle Pass High School and is the son of Luis and Yolanda Garcia.
During the fall of 2016, Garcia was doing his student teaching with the Eagle Pass Independent School District and served as a role model for both Eagle Pass High School and C. C. Winn High School student athletes.
