Eagle Pass to Hold “Ready to Work” Collaborative Career Fair
(Press Release) The City of Eagle Pass, through its Business & Economic Development (BEDC), will hold the its first collaborative career fair, themed “Ready to Work,” on September 28, 2017, at the International Center for Trade in Eagle Pass, TX.
As part of the Eagle Pass BEDC’s mission, the career fair will be a collaborative effort and include several local, state, and federal government and private sector groups.
Lead organizing partners include: Eagle Pass BEDC, Middle Rio Grande Development Council, Texas Workforce Solutions, and Southwest Texas Junior College.
Participating agencies include: Office of the Governor, Maverick County Hospital District, Ft. Duncan Regional Medical Center, Power Mark Resources, AT&T, U.S. Border Patrol, U.S. Customs, FBI, U.S. Secret Service, Texas Department of Public Safety, Texas Game Wardens, Eagle Pass Police Department, and Eagle Pass Fire Department.
Southwest Texas Junior College is taking the lead on inviting high school juniors and seniors form Eagle Pass ISD and several surrounding school districts.
The “Ready to Work” Collaborative Career Fair will have two dedicated sessions.
High School Student Session (9 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.) 11th & 12th grade students.
General Public Session (1:30 p.m. – 4 p.m.).
“We are very excited about this collaborative career fair and the opportunities that it will create for the residents of Eagle Pass and the region,” says Eagle Pass BEDC Labor Workforce & Training Sub-Committee Chair Terri Patlan-Contreras. Patlan-Contreras, who also serves as the Chief Executive Officer for the Maverick County Hospital District, has been working diligently with the city’s consulting firm EMC Strategy Group, LLC, for the last several weeks to organize this career fair through the BEDC Labor Workforce & Training Sub-Committee.
“This career fair is a step in the right direction and will expose Eagle Pass residents to well-paying jobs that can lead to long-term careers,” says Eagle Pass City Manager Art Rodriguez. “Our Eagle Pass BEDC team, led by Chairman Morris Libson, and Labor Workforce & Training Sub-Committee Chair Terri Patlan-Contreras are certainly doing a great service for the entire community and building a new foundation for the future of our city,” adds Rodriguez.
