Eagle Pass Eagles Muzzle Laredo LBJ Wolves 41-9 in District 29-6A Football Action

The mighty Eagle Pass High School Eagles muzzled the homestanding Laredo LBJ High School Wolves 41-9 in a key District 29-6A football game on Thursday, September 28, 2017, at the Laredo United Independent School District Student Activity Complex Football Stadium in Laredo, Texas.
The first-half of the game turned out to be a defensive battle between the Eagles Wrecking Crew and the Wolfpack with the game close 7-3 in favor o the Eagles. The Eagles scored the lone touchdown of the first half on a 24 yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Norby Zavala and place kicker Jose Riojas point after attempt was good while the Wolves managed a 26 yard field goal as time expired, giving the Eagles a slim lead 7-3 at halftime.
The Eagles explosive offense made some adjustments in the second-half, including switching standout running back Dee Andre Torres to quarterback, that paid huge dividends for them. Dee Andre Torres had a strong outing with carrying the pigskin for 86 yards on 10 carries and completed 17 passes of 23 pass attempts for 259 yards with two touchdown passes and two touchdowns rushing. The Eagles Wrecking Crew Defense stifled the potent Wovles running and aerial game the entire game, except giving up a 60 yard touchdown run by Wolves running back Rupert Landa late in the fourth quarter and a first-half field goal.
The Eagles added two touchdowns in the third quarter on a 36 yard sprint and a 9 yard dash by quarterback Dee Andre Torres to take a 21-3 lead.
In the fourth quarter, the Eagles exploded for three more touchdowns, including two touchdown passes from quarterback Dee Andre Torres to wide receiver Rey Mendoza of 31 and 37 yards respectively, to seal the important District 29-6A victory over the Wolves 41-9.
The win improves the Eagles to 4-1 overall in the season and 2-0 in District 29-6A standings under Head Coach Tom Gonzalez. The Eagles will enjoy an Open Week next week of October 2-6th at midway of the regular 2017 season before returning to the gridiron on Friday, October 13th, in another key District 29-6A game against the San Antonio South San High School Bobcats at home in the Eagle Pass Independent School District Cozel Foster-Veterans Memorial Football Stadium at 7:30 P.M.
