Eagle Pass Eagles Open 2017 Football Season Against Medina Valley Panthers

The mighty Eagle Pass High School Eagles open their 2017 football season against the perennially tough Medina Valley High School Panthers on Friday, September 1, 2017, at 7:30 P.M. in Castroville, Texas, announced Eagles Head Coach Tom Gonzalez.
The Eagles will seek to improve their 2016 record of 4-6 during the 2017 season and will compete in District 29-6A once again.
“Our players are ready to open the 2017 season after two successful scrimmages against Somerset and Laredo Martin,” said Coach Tom Gonzalez. “Medina Valley every year fields a good team and runs the slot-T offensive scheme,” added Gonzalez. The Medina Valley Panthers are under the tutelage of Head Coach Chris Soza.
Leading the mighty Eagles Offense this season will be Quarterback Ricardo “Richie” Luna, running back DeeOndre Torres, wide receivers Albert Guevara, Jose Riojas, Norby Zavala, David Lopez, and Ralph Guerrero, center Jose Laguna, guards Jorge Guajardo and Ray Galindo, tackles Tito Villarreal and Alez Martinez, place kickers Jose Riojas and David Lopez, and punter Jose Riojas.
The Eagles wrecking crew defense will be anchored by Linebackers David Kypuros, Haran Rodriguez, Roger Ulloa, and Mando Moncivais, defensive tackles Sebastian Hernandez and David Santos, defensive ends Mario Torres and Moi Rocha, and defensive backs Darwin Lechler, Nico Moyeda, Christian Barcena, and Raul Lechler.
The homestanding Medina Valley Panthers will be led by running backs Devin Johnson and Caytan Chang on offense and by defensive linemen Wesley Horvath, Chris Martinez, and A.J. Lopez when on defense.
The Eagles Football Coaching Staff includes Offensive Coordinator Javier Cardenas, Defensive Coordinator Roger Olivas, and Assistant Coaches Special Teams Coordinator Oscar Ruiz, Ricardo Ruiz, Reynol Jimenez, Pete Venegas, Sam Navejas, Joe Villa, Chris Villa, Beto Garcia, Mario Mata, Jesus Juarez, and Lou Hernandez.
Eagle Pass Eagles football season tickets are available at the Eagle Pass Independent School District Athletic Department located at the Student Activity Center. Individual game tickets are available immediately before every game at the ticket booth.
