The state of the art Eagle Pass Veterinary Diagnostic Hospital, located at 1990 North Veterans Boulevard, in Eagle Pass, Texas, celebrated its official grand opening on Saturday, October 28, 2017, amid over 100 cheering local pet owners, public dignitaries, entrepreneurs, residents, family, and friends.
Dr. Sandy Hurwitz and his lovely wife, Leslie Hurwitz, are the proud owners of the newly opened Eagle Pass Veterinary Diagnostic Hospital. Dr. Hurwitz stated that the reason they opened the new Veterinary Diagnostic Hospital in Eagle Pass is because he wanted to serve an underserved community, loves the United States-Mexico border, and Mayor Ramsey English Cantu went to their Del Rio Veterinary Hospital’s grand opening and recruited them to open one in Eagle Pass, too. Dr. Hurwitz credited Mayor Cantu for their opening the Eagle Pass Veterinary Diagnostic Hospital and assisting them with certain issues during the development and opening of the veterinary hospital.
The long-awaited and much needed opening of Eagle Pass and Maverick County’s first Veterinary Diagnostic Hospital for pets and equine was very successful and well-received by local pet owners and residents.
Eagle Pass is very fortunate and blessed to have one of the best Veterinary Diagnostic Hospitals in the United States. The newly opened Eagle Pass Veterinary Diagnostic Hospital features two full-time Veterinarians, Dr. Jenny Beattie Dorsey and Dr. Levi Hancock, five examining and treatment rooms, an X-ray room, a CT Scan room, an Ultra Sound machine, a Dental Cleaning machine, an Equine examining and treatment center, blood testing machines, a bathing center, a quarantine room with kennels, regular dog and cat kennels, an exercise room for pets, offices, a pet food center, and a totally paperless patient system as all records are kept online in computers.
The Equine treatment center features a drive-through so that horse trailers can enter and unload the horse into the treatment center and wait for the treatment and then reload the animal and drive out once again. An outstanding feature.
The new Eagle Pass Veterinary Diagnostic Hospital’s design and layout is extraordinary with large and spacious treatment rooms and work areas for the pets, horses, pet owners, and staff. Pet owners are allowed to personally observe the examination and treatment of their pets and horses side by side with the Veterinarians and staff members.
The new Eagle Pass Veterinary Diagnostic Hospital is managed by Eagle Passan Guillermo “Memo” Villasenor and his complete staff is composed of Eagle Pass residents. “We wanted to hire local people at our Veterinary Diagnostic Hospital,” said Leslie Hurwitz. “We are extremely happy with finding such quality and professional staff in Eagle Pass,” added Leslie Hurwitz.
“We have such a deep love and appreciation of the United States-Mexico border, its people and culture, and geographic terrain that we decided to build the new Veterinary Diagnostic Hospital with a Spanish Hacienda architectural theme and interior decorating,” said Leslie Hurwitz. The result is beautiful, authentic and genuine, and has many custom-made furniture and decorations hand-crafted in both Mexico and Texas.
Dr. Sandy Hurwitz acknowledged the novel design and development of the newly opened Eagle Pass Veterinary Diagnostic Hospital to his fellow Veterinary School classmate and colleague, Dr. Pete Vaden, who practiced many years in Uvalde, Texas and is recognized as one of the leading equine Veterinarians in the United States.
Upon deciding to open a Veterinary Hospital in Eagle Pass, Dr. Sandy Hurwitz embarked on finding the two finest young Veterinarian doctors to staff, work, and live in the community of Eagle Pass. He found Eagle Passan Dr. Jenny Beattie Dorsey, a graduate of Eagle Pass High School Class of 2003, and Dr. Levi Hancock and recruited them for the new Eagle Pass Veterinary Diagnostic Hospital. Dr. Jenny Beattie Dorsey stated that she is excited and happy to return to her hometown of Eagle Pass to practice her profession and love of animals at the new Veterinary Hospital. Dr. Levi Hancock added that he is honored and excited to work with Drs. Hurwitz, Vaden, and Dorsey in the state of the art Veterinarian Hospital in Eagle Pass and looks forward to becoming a member of the community.
Mayor Ramsey English Cantu congratulated and welcomed Dr. Sandy Hurwitz and wife, Leslie, to Eagle Pass and on the grand opening of their beautiful and much needed Eagle Pass Veterinary Diagnostic Hospital. Mayor Cantu thanked Dr. and Mrs. Hurwitz for their vision, commitment, and trust in making a significant investment in Eagle Pass and Maverick County, Texas. Mayor Cantu presented them with a gift for their new Veterinary Hospital: an authentic real live Eagle Pass cat named Bridget to serve as their new mascot.
The newly opened Eagle Pass Veterinary Diagnostic Hospital is open Monday through Friday from 7 A.M. to 7 P.M. and on Saturdays from 8 A.M. to 4 P.M. All Eagle Passans and surrounding area residents and pet owners are invited and welcomed to bring their cats, dogs, and horses for examination and treatment at the new Eagle Pass Veterinary Diagnostic Hospital. Your pets will love it and thank you for it.
The grand opening ceremony of the Eagle Pass Veterinary Diagnostic Hospital was sponsored by the Eagle Pass Chamber of Commerce. Board Vice-President Andres Beattie served as Master of Ceremony of the grand opening.
