Three Persons Killed in Christmas Day Auto Accident on Old Uvalde Road

Three persons were killed in an apparent head-on auto collision between a Ford Expedition and a Mercedes Benz SUV on Old Uvalde Road (FM 481) on Monday, December 25, 2017, at approximately 11:30 P.M., according to law enforcement authorities.
Both drivers of the Ford Expedition and Mercedes Benz SUV vehicles died at the scene of the accident due to the severity of the injuries sustained from the head-on collision.
Three passengers from the Ford Expedition were transported to medical centers in San Antonio, Texas, but one of the three passed away while en route to San Antonio. The other two persons are in critical condition in San Antonio.
According to the preliminary investigation, the Ford Expedition was traveling north from Eagle Pass to Uvalde while the Mercedes Benz SUV was traveling south from Uvalde to Eagle Pass on Old Uvalde Road.
Texas Department of Public Safety identified the three victims as U.S. Border Patrolman Antonio Cordova, age 27, of Eagle Pass, Texas; Ruby Garza, age 51, of Uvalde, Texas; and Julia Vasquez, age 51, of Uvalde, Texas.
Old Uvalde Road was closed for several hours while first responders provided assistance and investigated the tragic Christmas Day fatal accident.
The accident is under investigation by the Texas Department of Public Safety.
