Maverick County Sheriff’s Department Identifies Suspect in March 25th Shooting of Two Eagle Pass Men as Christopher De Leon

Maverick County Sheriff Tom Schmerber identified the suspect of the Palm Sunday, March 25, 2018, shooting of two Eagle Pass men, which one died at the scene and another had to be airlifted to a San Antonio, Texas, medical facility in critical condition, at a residence in Deer Run Subdivision in northern Maverick County, Texas as Christopher De Leon, age 22, of Eagle Pass, Texas.
Christopher De Leon is being detained and charged on one count of murder (homicide) and a second count of attempted murder at the Maverick County Tom Bowles Detention Center in Eagle Pass pending being magistrated by a judge.
The shooting incident occurred at approximately 5:30 A.M. on Sunday, March 25th, at a residence at the intersection of Fallow Run and Gazelle Streets in the Deer Run Subdivision at a party between the parties involved and guests.
Some type of a dispute or argument is alleged to have happened between Christopher De Leon and Miguel Salinas and his brother, Sabino Salinas, at the party. De Leon is alleged to have pulled out a gun and fatally shot Miguel Salinas, who died at the scene, and his brother, Sabino Salinas, who was critically injured and transported to Fort Duncan Regional Medical Center Emergency Room and later airlifted to a San Antonio medical facility in critical condition.
Christopher De Leon is awaiting to be magistrated by a Maverick County Magistrate Judge or Justice of the Peace.
All persons or defendants accused of a criminal offense are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court at law.
