A total of only 1,420 Maverick County, Texas registered voters out of over 30,000 cast their ballot in the Texas Senate District 19 Special Emergency Election held on July 31, 2018.
The top vote getter in Maverick County was former Congressman and State Representative Pete Gallego with 590 votes followed by State Representative Roland Gutierrez with 502 votes, then Peter P. (Pete) Flores had 218 votes, Tomas Uresti received 25 votes, Charlie Urbina Jones got 23 votes, Carlos Antonio Raymond had 21 votes, Jesse (Jay) Alaniz obtained 6 votes, and Tony Valdivia received 4 votes.
It appears that there will more than likely be a run-off election between the two leading Democrats, Pete Gallego and Roland Gutierrez, in September 2018, according to preliminary election results within District 19.
Maverick Countians will most likely have a second opportunity to come and vote in this most important election to represent our community in the Texas Senate and Legislature in Austin, Texas.
