Rollover Automobile Accident Claims Life of 74 Year Old Carrizo Springs Man

The Maverick County Sheriff’s Department reported that a single automobile rollover accident on FM 2644 near El Indio, Texas on Saturday, August 4, 2018, claimed the life of a 74 year old man from Carrizo Springs, Texas while seriously injuring another man, also from Carrizo Springs.

The driver of the 2007 Pontiac G6 automobile, Gilberto Gonzalez, age 44, allegedly lost control of the vehicle at a well-known curve on FM 2644 causing it to roll over several times, killing 74 year old Jesus Olvera of Carrizo Springs, Texas and seriously injuring Gonzalez.  Olvera died at the scene of the accident while Gonzalez was airlifted to a San Antonio, Texas medical center for emergency medical treatment of his serious injuries sustained in the rollover.

Gonzalez and Olvera were traveling north on FM 2644 between El Indio and Carrizo Springs while returning home after visiting Eagle Pass, Texas.  The fatal rollover accident happened at approximately 11 P.M. on Saturday, August 4, 2018. 

The rollover accident is under investigation by the Texas Department of Public Safety.
