Eagle Pass BEDC to hold Labor Workforce Summit This Week

(Eagle Pass, TX – October 1, 2018) The Eagle Pass BEDC will hold its second Labor Workforce Summit on October 3, 2018, at 10 a.m., at the International Center for Trade (West Room).  Texas Workforce Commissioner on Labor Julian Alvarez will serve as the keynote speaker for the summit, which is being hosted by the City of Eagle Pass BEDC, Middle Rio Grande Development Council, and Workforce Solutions Middle Rio Grande.   

The BEDC-MRGDC Labor Workforce Summit will include a panel discussion with Mayor Ramsey English-Cantu, TWC Commissioner Julian Alvarez, State Representative Poncho Nevarez, Gilberto Gonzalez (EPISD Superintendent), and Representatives of Sul Ross University, Workforce Solutions, and Southwest Texas Junior College.

Commissioner Alvarez will discuss current Texas Workforce Commission funding and training program opportunities that are aimed at strengthening regional workforces that make community’s more competitive to outside industry.
