Eagle Pass Eagles fall to Laredo Alexander Bulldogs 14-7 in Overtime

The mighty Eagle Pass High School Eagles fell to the Laredo Alexander High School Bulldogs 14-7 in Overtime in a key District 29-6A football game on Thursday, October 25, 2018, at the Laredo United Independent School District Student Activity Center in Laredo, Texas.
Both teams battled to a 7-7 tie during regulation time, sending the game into Overtime.
The Alexander Bulldogs punched the pigskin into the end zone and the point after attempt was good to take a 14-7 lead in Overtime as the Eagles had to score a touchdown and extra point to send the game into a second Overtime period.
The Eagles marched to the Bulldogs three yard line in Overtime and on the ensuing play Eagles Quarterback Ritchie Luna fumbled the pigskin at the Bulldogs one yard line and the Bulldogs pounced on the loose football to end the game, sealing the Bulldogs win over the Eagles 14-7.
The Eagles and Bulldogs locked themselves in a hard fought defensive battle throughout the entire game. The Eagles placed courageously and valiantly during the game to limit the explosive Bulldogs offense to only 14 points.
The Eagles drop to 7-2 overall in the season, but most importantly fell to 3-2 in District 29-6A standings. The Bulldogs improve to 7-1 overall in the season while remaining undefeated in District 29-6A standings with a 4-0 record.
With the loss, the Eagles fall to third place in District 29-6A and remain within a playoff berth in the state playoffs as one of the top four teams in District 29-6A.
The Bulldogs clinched a state playoff berth with their 14-7 win over the Eagles.
The Eagles will enjoy an Open Week next week and will finish the regular season on November 9th against arch-rival Del Rio High School Rams in another important District 29-6A game at home at 7:30 P.M.
