Eagle Passan Ricardo Madera Sentenced to 18 Years for Intoxication Manslaughter in Midland County

Eagle Passan Ricardo Madera was sentenced on Thursday, October 4, 2018 in Midland, Texas to 18 years for killing two Bicyclists and seriously injuring a third cyclist in a drunk driving accident that occurred on Texas Highway 158 on April 25, 2018.
Madera worked in Midland, Texas in the oil and gas industry when the accident happened on April 25th. Madera struck three Bicyclists riding on the shoulder of Texas Highway 158, killing two of them and injuring a third. Camron Stotts, age 42, and Michael Mestas, age 47, died at the scene of the accident while Jason Haislip was injured and survived the fatal accident.
Madera plead guilty on Thursday, October 4th, before a Midland County State District Judge to five counts including two counts of Intoxication Manslaughter, Intoxication Assault, and Hit and Run in Accident Causing Death. Madera will serve the five sentences concurrently.
Madera had an alcohol level of .126 on the date of the accident, one and a half times higher than the minimum state DWI level of .08.
