Early Voting Ends Friday, November 2nd; Regular Election Day is Tuesday, November 6th

Last chance for Maverick County, Texas registered voters to cast their ballots during the Early Voting Period as there are only three days remaining until Friday, November 2, 2018, at the City of Eagle Pass Multi-Purpose Center, 480 South Adams Street, Eagle Pass, Texas from 8 A.M. through 5 P.M., announced Maverick County Elections Administrator Roy Schmerber.
After Friday, November 2nd, Maverick Countians will still be able to vote on regular Election Day on Tuesday, November 6th, from 7 A.M. through 7 P.M. at their County Precinct Polling Places listed below in this article.
Maverick County Commissioners Court has approved the following Regular Election Day County Precinct Polling Places for Tuesday, November 6th:
Precinct 1A will vote at Salon De Colores (Sacred Heart Catholic Church) located at 2055 Williams Street, Eagle Pass, Texas;
Precinct 1B will vote at Eagle Pass Fire Station No. 2 located at 2420 Second Street, Eagle Pass, Texas;
Precinct 1C will vote at Memorial Junior High School located at 1800 Lewis Street, Eagle Pass, Texas;
Precinct 2A will vote at Benavides Heights Elementary School located at 1750-A Mesa Street, Eagle Pass, Texas;
Precinct 2B will vote at San Luis Elementary School located at 2090-A Williams Street, Eagle Pass, Texas;
Precinct 2C will vote at Rosita Valley Elementary School located at 735 Rosita Valley Road, Eagle Pass, Texas;
Precinct 2D will vote at El Indio Community Center located at 115 West Texas Street, El Indio, Texas;
Precinct 3A will vote at Glass Elementary School located at 1501 Boehmer Street, Eagle Pass, Texas;
Precinct 3B will vote at Seco Mines Elementary School located at 2900 Diaz Street, Eagle Pass, Texas;
Precinct 3C will vote at Quemado Community Center located at 20160 US Highway 277, Quemado, Texas;
Precinct 4A will vote at Maverick County Courthouse located at 500 Quarry Street, Eagle Pass, Texas;
Precinct 4B will vote at Eagle Pass High School (Girls Gym) located at 2020 Second Street, Eagle Pass, Texas;
Precinct 4C will vote at Eagle Pass High School (Girls Gym) located at 2020 Second Street, Eagle Pass, Texas; and
Precinct 4D will vote at Henry B. Gonzalez Elementary School located at 400 Balcones Boulevard, Eagle Pass, Texas.
This November 6, 2018 Election features key local, county, state, and federal political races. Locally, the hottest races are for the Eagle Pass Independent School District Board of Trustees including Place 3 between local attorney Victor E. Perry and Maverick County Sheriff’s Department Grant Administrator, Place 4 between incumbent Board Vice-President Dr. Hilda P. Martinez ad former newspaper reporter Rex McBeath, and Place 5 between incumbent Board President Lupita Fuentes and local car salesman Mayito Obregon.
The Maverick County Hospital District Board of Directors has four candidates vying for two positions with the two top vote getters earning a seat on the Board, including incumbent Board Chairman Adolfo “Fito” Olivares, incumbent Board Member and Certified Texas Healthcare Trustee Ronald Hixson, local entrepreneur Aaron Valdez, and local resident Joaquin “Jacky” Menchaca.
Statewide, the hottest race is for the United States Senate between Democratic Party Congressman Beto O’Rourke of El Paso, Texas and incumbent Republican Party Senator Ted Cruz of Houston, Texas.
Another statewide race drawing high interest is for Governor of Texas between Democratic Party Candidate and former Dallas County Sheriff Lupe Valdez and Republican Party Candidate and incumbent Governor Gregg Abbott.
The United States House of Representatives, District 23, race has garnered high interest between Democratic Party Candidate and former U.S. Intelligence Officer Gina Ortiz Jones and Republican Party Candidate and incumbent Will Hurd.
There are many other local and countywide races on the ballot that are unopposed such as for 293rd Judicial District Judge with Democrat Maribel Flores, 365th Judicial District Judge with Democrat Amado J. Abascal, III, Texas House of Representatives, District 74, Democrat Poncho Nevarez, Maverick County Judge Democrat and incumbent David R. Saucedo, Maverick County Commissioners for Precincts 2 and 4 with Rosy Cantu and Roberto Ruiz, Maverick County District Clerk and Democrat Leopoldo Vielma, and many others.
Key judicial races for the Texas Supreme Court, Court of Criminal Appeals, and Texas Fourth Court of Appeals are on the ballot as contested races.
All Statewide Officers such as Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Attorney General, Land Commissioner, Agriculture Commissioner, State Board of Education, Railroad Commission of Texas, and others are contested on the ballot.
All 30,000 plus Maverick County registered voters are invited and encouraged to come out to vote during the final three days of Early Voting Period until Friday, November 2nd, or on Regular Election Day, Tuesday, , November 6th.
