Let’s Go Vote! Early Voting Starts October 22 through November 2

Over 30,000 Maverick County registered voters have the opportunity to go vote in this key November 6, 2018 General/Midterm Election during the Early Voting Period starting on Monday, October 22nd, through Friday, November 2nd, at the City of Eagle Pass Multi-Purpose Center located at 480 S. Adams Street in the Fort Duncan Park in Eagle Pass, Texas, announced Maverick County Democratic Party Chairman Luis Alfonso Ruiz.
The Early Voting Period kicks-off this coming Monday, October 22nd, and runs until Friday, November 22nd, at the Eagle Pass Multi-Purpose Center with many local, statewide, and federal races on the ballot.
The local contested races drawing the most interest among Maverick County voters are the Eagle Pass Independent School District Board of Trustees and the Maverick County Hospital District Board of Trustees.
In the Eagle Pass Independent School District Board of Trustees election there are three hotly contested places on the ballot, including Place 3 between local attorney Victor E. Perry and Maverick County Sheriff’s Department Grant Writer Ignacio “Nacho” Saucedo, Place 4 between incumbent Board Vice-President local pharmacist Dr. Hilda P. Martinez and former newspaper reporter Rex McBeath, and Place 5 between incumbent Board President and local healthcare executive Lupita Fuentes and local car salesman Mayito Obregon.
The Maverick County Hospital District has four candidates vying for two places on the Board with the two highest vote getters earning a seat on the County Hospital District Board of Trustees, including incumbent Board Chairman and retired education administrator Adolfo “Fito” Olivares, incumbent Board Member and Certified Texas Healthcare Trustee Ronald Hixson, local entrepreneur Aaron Valdez, and local resident Joaquin Menchaca.
The U.S. Senate race between Democratic Party candidate and Congressman Beto O’Rourke and Republican Party Candidate and incumbent Ted Cruz has drawn heavy interest among Maverick County and statewide voters.
Another race drawing local interest is for United States House of Representative, Texas District 23, between Democratic Party candidate and former U.S. Intelligence Officer Gina Ortiz Jones and Republican Party candidate and incumbent Will Hurd.
All statewide officers races are on the ballot, including a contested race for Governor between Democratic Party candidate and former Dallas County Sheriff Lupe Valdez and Republican Party candidate and incumbent Greg Abbott, as well as the Lieutenant Governor, Attorney General, Agriculture Commissioner, Land Commissioner, Railroad Commission of Texas, State Board of Education, Supreme Court of Texas, Court of Criminal Appeals, Fourth Court of Appeals, and others.
Local Maverick County unopposed races on the ballot include County Judge with incumbent David R. Saucedo, County Commissioner Precinct 2 with Rosy Cantu, County Commissioner Precinct 4 Roberto Ruiz, District Clerk with Leopoldo Vielma, County Clerk with Sara Montemayor, County Treasurer Rito Valdez, County Tax Assessor-Collector Isamari Villarreal Sanchez, District Judges with Amado Abascal and Maribel Flores, Justices of the Peace, State Representative with Poncho Nevarez, and others.
