Eagle Pass Eagles Linebacker David Kypuros Named 2018 District 29-6A Defensive Most Valuable Player as 31 Eagles Receive All-District Football Honors

Eagle Pass High School Eagles Head Football Coach Tom Gonzalez has authorized the Eagle Pass Business Journal announce that 31 Eagles student-athletes received 2018 District 29-6A All-District Football Honors.
The District 29-6A Head Football Coaches met after the regular season to deliberate and select the 2018 District 29-6A All-District Football Honors.
Named as the 2018 District 29-6A Most Valuable Offensive Player was Laredo United High School Longhorns senior running back Jerry Gonzalez while Eagle Pass High School Eagles senior linebacker David Kypuros was selected as the District 29-6A Most Valuable Defensive Player in 2018. Laredo United Longhorns Head Coach David Sanchez was named the 2018 District 29-6A Coach of the Year.
Laredo United South High School Panthers sophomore running back Brian Benavidez was named the 2018 District 29-6A Offensive Newcomer of the Year, Laredo United Longhorns junior quarterback Wayo Huerta was named the Most Outstanding Quarterback, Laredo Alexander High School Bulldogs junior Camilo Pedraza was named the Most Outstanding Running Back, Laredo United Longhorns senior Jorge Murillo was named the Most Outstanding Wide Receiver, and Laredo Alexander Bulldogs junior Pedro Garcia was named the Most Outstanding Offensive Lineman.
On defense, Del Rio High School Rams sophomore Kaylon Green was named the 2018 District 29-6A Defensive Newcomer of the Year, Laredo Alexander Bulldogs senior Matthew Vasquez was named the Most Outstanding Interior Lineman, Eagle Pass Eagles senior Moises Rocha was named the Most Outstanding Defensive End, Laredo Alexander Bulldogs senior Santino Palizo was named the Most Outstanding Linebacker, and Laredo Alexander Bulldogs senior Donavan Ethridge was named the Most Outstanding Defensive Secondary.
A total of 10 Eagle Pass Eagles student-athletes were named to the 2018 District 29-6A First Team Offensive and Defensive Teams. Named to the First Team Offense were senior quarterback Ritchie Luna, senior wide receiver Rey Mendoza, senior Slot Receiver Oscar Castillon, senior offensive tackle Tito Villarreal, senior offensive guard Jorge Guardado, and senior center Jose Laguna. Named to the First Team Defense were senior defensive tackle Manny Rodriguez, senior defensive end Jorge Gonzalez, senior inside linebacker Roger Ulloa, and senior cornerback Raul Lechler.
A total of eight Eagle Pass Eagles student-athletes were named to the 2018 District 29-6A Second Team Offensive and Defensive Teams. Named to the Second Team Offense were sophomore wide receiver Jacob Ruiz and senior offensive guard Ray Galindo. Named to the Second Team Defense were senior nose tackle David Santos, junior defensive tackle Andres Conde, junior inside linebacker Jacob Salinas, senior defensive end Jorge Gonzalez, senior safety Ryan Chisum, and senior safety Nico Moyeda.
A total of 11 Eagle Pass Eagles student-athletes were named to the 2018 District 29-6A Honorable Mention Offensive and Defensive Teams. Named to the Honorable Mention Offensive Team were senior fullback J. Herrera, senior wide receiver Isaac Gonzalez, junior running back Saul Perales, junior slot receiver David Lopez, junior offensive tackle Alex Martinez, and senior punter Rey Mendoza. Named to the Honorable Mention Defensive Team were junior safety Erik Heredia, sophomore defensive end Charlie Schuessler, senior corner back Josh Monsivais, junior place kicker Erick Ramirez, and junior defensive lineman Chance Perez.
