Maverick County, Texas Early Vote Period Results for November 6, 2018 State General/Midterm Election

A record Early Voting Period turnout of 7,641 ballots were cast in Maverick County, Texas during October 22, 2018 through November 2, 2018, announced Maverick County Election Judge Arturo Delgado at 7:05 P.M. on November 6th on the steps of the Maverick County Courthouse in Eagle Pass, Texas. The regular Election Day results for today’s voting on November 6th remain to be tallied and the final Maverick County total votes cast will be released when announced later this evening.
For the United States Senate race, Democratic Party Candidate Congressman Beto O’Rourke garnered 5,182 votes (72.06%) compared to incumbent Republican Party Candidate Senator Ted Cruz’s 1,945 votes (27.05%) and Libertarian Party Candidate Neal M. Dikeman had 64 votes (0.89%).
In the United States House of Representative District 23 race, Democratic Party Candidate Gina Ortiz Jones earned 4,985 votes (70.73%) compared to incumbent Republican Party Congressman Will Hurd’s 1,875 votes (26.60%) and Libertarian Party Candidate Ruben Corvalan had 188 votes (2.67%).
For the Texas Governor race, Democratic Party Candidate Lupe Valdez received 4,686 votes (66.63%) compared to incumbent Republican Party Governor Greg Abbott’s 2,263 votes and Libertarian Party Candidate Mark Jay Tippetts had 84 votes (1.19%).
In the Lieutenant Governor race, Democratic Party Candidate Mike Collier garnered 4,773 votes (69.34%) compared to incumbent Republican Party Candidate Lt. Governor Dan Patrick’s 1,949 votes (28.32%) and Libertarian Party Candidate Kerry Douglas McKennon had 161 votes (2.34%).
For the Attorney General of Texas race, Democratic Party Candidate Justin Nelson earned 4,811 votes (70.16%) compared to incumbent Republican Party Candidate Attorney General Ken Paxton’s 1,813 votes (26.44%) and Libertarian Party Candidate Michael Ray Harris had 233 votes (3.40%).
In the hotly contested local Eagle Pass Independent School District Board of Trustees Place 3 race, Victor E. Perry obtained 3,974 votes (56.07%) compared to Ignacio “Nacho” Saucedo’s 3,114 votes (43.93%).
For the contested local Eagle Pass Independent School District Board of Trustees Place 4 race, incumbent Trustee Dr. Hilda P. Martinez garnered 4,318 votes (62.53%) compared to challenger Rex McBeath’s 2,587 votes (37.47%).
In the hotly contested Eagle Pass Independent School District Board of Trustees Place 5 race, challenger Mayito Obregon earned 3,588 votes (50.49%) compared to incumbent Board President Lupita Fuentes’ 3,519 votes (49.51%).
For the Maverick County Hospital District Board of Directors two places, Aaron E. Valdez obtained 2,994 votes (35.68%) followed by incumbent Board President Adolfo “Fito” Olivares’ 2,558 votes (30.48%) while incumbent Board Member Dr. Ronald Hixson received 1,541 votes (18.36%) and Joaquin “Jacky” Menchaca had 1,299 votes (15.48%). The two top vote getters in this election win the two places on the Board of Directors.
