Poncho Nevarez, Maribel Flores, and Amado Abascal Win Unopposed

Several Eagle Pass, Texas candidates easily won re-election or election to their public posts without any opposition in the Tuesday, November 6, 2018 General Election.
Eagle Pass attorney and State Representative Poncho Nevarez won re-election to a third term of two years with a total of 8,800 votes without having an opponent in the November 6th General Election. Nevarez is a member of the Demoratic Party.
Nevarez bested a field of several candidates in his initial campaign for the Texas House of Representatives District 74 seat four years ago, but has gone unopposed his last two re-election bids including this one in 2018.
Another Eagle Pass attorney, Maribel Flores, handily won election to her first term as the 293rd Judicial District Court in the November 6th General Election as an unopposed candidate with a total of 9,152 votes in Maverick County alone as the results in Dimmit and Zavala Counties were unavailable as of press time.
Flores defeated two other candidates for the Democratic Party Primary nomination in March 2018 for the 293rd Judicial District Court, but did not face any opponent in the November 6th General Election.
Flores will take her oath of office as the new 293rd Judicial District Court Judge on January 1, 2019, serving the three counties of Dimmit, Maverick, and Zavala.
Incumbent 365th Judicial District Court Judge Amado J. Abascal, III of Eage Pass also easily won re-election unopposed to another four year term in the November 6th General Election. The 365th Judicial District Court serves Dimmit, Maverick, and Zavala Counties. Abascal will take his new oath of office on January 1, 2019.
