Victor E. Perry, Hilda P. Martinez, and Lupita Fuentes Sweep Eagle Pass Independent School District Board of Trustees’ Election

A record 11,396 Maverick County, Texas voters cast a ballot in the hotly contested Eagle Pass Independent School District Board of Trustees’ Election on Tuesday, November 6, 2018, announced Maverick County Election Judge Arturo Delgado.
For the Eagle Pass Independent School District Board of Trustees’ Place 3 race, local attorney Victor E. Perry defeated former School Board Trustee and Maverick County Sheriff’s Department Grant Administrator Ignacio “Nacho” Saucedo with 6,101 votes (57.74%) compared to Saucedo’s 4,465 votes (42.26%) in a hotly disputed race between the two candidates.
In the Eagle Pass Independent School District Board of Trustees’ Place 4 race, incumbent Board Vice-President and local Pharmacist Dr. Hilda P. Martinez crushed former School Board Trustee and news reporter Rex McBeath by garnering 6,552 votes (63.79%) compared to McBeath’s 3,719 votes (36.21%).
For the Eagle Pass Independent School District Board of Trustees’ Place 5 race, incumbent Board President and Healthcare Executive Lupita Fuentes edged challenger and car salesman Mayito Obregon by receiving 5,371 votes (50.84%) compared to Obregon’s 5,193 votes (49.16%) in a close, razor thin margin of victory. Obregon led Fuentes after the Early Voting Period votes were counted by 69 votes, but Fuentes regular election votes overcame Obregon’s Early Voting Period lead to clinch re-election for Fuentes.
Perry will join incumbents Martinez and Fuentes on the Eagle Pass Independent School District Board of Trustees.
