Eagle Pass Winn High School Student Killed in Single Vehicle Collision, Three Others Injured

An 18 year old male student, Bryan Mata, of Eagle Pass C. C. Winn High School was killed in a single automobile accident on Monday evening, January 14, 2019, at the intersection of South Monroe Street and Garrison Street in Eagle Pass, Texas while another three male individuals were also injured in the single vehicle accident.
The driver of the Pontiac G6 Sedan was Israel Torres, age 19, of Eagle Pass, Texas. The Pontiac vehicle was traveling westbound on the Garrison Street Overpass when the vehicle lost control and crashed into or near a Texas Department of Transportation concrete marker. Torres was injured and transported to the Fort Duncan Regional Medical Center.
Two other individuals who were passengers in the Pontiac sedan were injured and transported to Fort Duncan Regional Medical Center.
Mata was a rear passenger in the Pontiac sedan driven by Torres.
The fatal accident is under investigation by the Eagle Pass Police Department and the Texas Department of Public Safety.
The C. C. Winn High School and Eagle Pass community mourn the tragic death of Bryan Mata, age 18.
Funeral arrangements for Mata are pending as of press time.
