Eagle Pass, Texas City Council Candidate Registration Period Open Until February 15th

The City of Eagle Pass, Texas is currently accepting applications from interested citizens for two City Council positions, Place 1 and Place 3, until 5 P.M., February 15, 2019 for the May 4, 2019 City Council Election, announced Imelda Rodriguez, City Secretary.
Applications to register as a City Council Candidate may be picked up from City Secretary Imelda Rodriguez during Monday through Friday from 8 A.M.-12 P.M. and 1 P.M.-5 P.M. until the filing deadline of Friday, February 15, 2019, at City Hall, 100 S. Monroe Street, Eagle Pass, Texas. All City Council Candidate Applications must be returned and filed with City Secretary Imelda Rodriguez by 5 P.M., February 15th deadline.
Candidates must be at least 18 years of age, be a United States citizen, be a resident of the City of Eagle Pass, and never have been convicted of a felony criminal offense.
The two City Council positions that will be on the May 4, 2019 City Council Election are Place 1, currently held by William “Billy” Davis, and Place 3, which is currently held by Yolanda P. Ramon. Currently, William “Billy” Davis has registered for re-election to his Place 1 post while Yolanda P. Ramon is expected to register for re-election before the February 15th deadline.
Any interested person who meets the qualifications may register as a candidate for one of the two City Council places scheduled for election on May 4th.
The City Council of the City of Eagle Pass, Texas is composed of a Mayor and four City Council members and are responsible for approving all policies and procedures governing the municipality, including, but not limited to, city tax rate, fiscal year budget, and other matters.
