Border Patrol Agents Pursue Vehicle through Three Counties
(Press Release) Del Rio Sector Border Patrol agents were involved in a vehicle pursuit through portions of three Texas counties that ended with the arrests of two U.S. Citizens early Sunday morning.
“This was a senseless and callous act committed by the driver who was attempting to out-run law enforcement officers,” said Del Rio Sector Chief Patrol Agent Raul L. Ortiz. “Thankfully no one was hurt and these two individuals have been taken off the streets to face the consequences of their actions.”
On April 28, Border Patrol agents from the Brackettville and Del Rio stations attempted to perform a vehicle stop on a pickup truck traveling on Ranch Road 674 near Brackettville. The driver of the pickup truck failed to yield to emergency lights and sirens, and continued to drive at high rates of speed through portions of Kinney, Edwards and Val Verde counties. Agents were assisted by Edwards and Val Verde County Sheriff deputies throughout the pursuit. The vehicle was successfully disabled by a controlled tire deflation device near Del Rio before the driver drove off road and ran into a wire fence on the south side of Highway 90 West.
The driver and passenger, both U.S. Citizens, were arrested and taken into custody by Edwards County Sheriff deputies on charges of evading arrest, possession of a control substance, and public intoxication.
