Eagle Pass Lady Eagles Trounced La Joya Lady Coyotes 11-1 in Game 1 of Bi-District Playoff Series

The mighty Eagle Pass High School Lady Eagles Softball Team trounced the La Joya High School Lady Coyotes 11-1 via the 10 run rule after five innings in Game 1 of the best of three series in the 2019 UIL Region IV-6A Bi-District Championship on Friday, April 26, 2019, at the La Joya Independent School District Softball Complex in La Joya, Texas.

The sizzling Lady Eagles bats came alive in Game 1 with three players smashing home runs, including Brooke Diaz, Alexandra Martinez,and Kaylene Ruiz, against Lady Coyotes pitcher Jaretzy Rodriguez, who took the loss. The Lady Eagles belted 13 hits against the Lady Coyotes as catcher Brooke Diaz went 3 for 3, and Alexandra Martinez, Leslie Martinez, and Lashay Reyes each had two hits in the game.

Lady Eagles pitcher Kaitlin Galvan hurled four innings allowing two hits, one earned run, and one strikeout while relief pitcher Alyssa Galvan tossed one inning to finish the game.

With the key Game 1 victory, the Lady Eagles take a 1-0 lead in the best of three series with Game 2 returning to the Eagle Pass Independent School District Student Activity Center Softball Stadium on Saturday, April 27th, at 3 P.M. If necessary, Game 3 of the best of three series will be 30 minutes following Game 2 on April 27th at Eagle Pass.

The loyal Eagle Nation aficionados are invited to attend the Lady Eagles Bi-District Playoffs game against the La Joya Lady Coyotes on Saturday, April 27th, and support the Lady Eagles to victory. Eagle Passans should take advantage of the Lady Eagles playing at home to watch the finest softball in Texas high school.

The winner of the Eagle Pass Lady Eagles and La Joya Lady Coyotes will advance to the Area Championship next week against the Harlingen South High School Lady Hawks, who defeated Edinburg North High School Lady Cougars 7-4 and 11-1 in Bi-District.
