Eagle Pass Winn Mavericks Blanked in Area Championship Series by Boerne Champion Chargers

The thundering Eagle Pass C.C. Winn High School Mavericks Baseball Team fell to the potent Boerne Champion High School Chargers in two consecutive games of their Region IV-5A Area Championship best of three series during May 10-11, 2019 at Jourdanton High School Baseball Stadium in Jourdanton, Texas.
GAME !
The first game of the best of three Area Championship Series was rescheduled from Thursday, May 9, 2019, to Friday, May 10, 2019 due to inclement weather.
On Friday, May 10th, the Mavericks were blanked by the Boerne Champion Chargers by a score of 7-0 in Game 1 of the best of three series despite a valiant effort by the Mavs. Boerne Champion took a 1-0 series lead after their Game 1 victory over the Mavericks.
GAME 2
The Mavericks regrouped for Game 2 of the Area Championship Series on Saturday, May 11, 2019, but the Boerne Champion Chargers pitching corps shut out the Mavericks from scoring any runs while the Chargers plated 8 runs to win Game 2 and the Area Championship Series.
The Mavericks finished their 2019 Season with a successful record of 20-13-1 and winning third place in District 28-5A and the Bi-District Championship over the San Antonio Brackenridge High School Eagles.
Mavericks Head Coach Heriberto Roiz stated that he will be “forever grateful and thankful for being a part of this program and players of Mavericks and thanked all the seniors for the beautiful memories and perseverance in making the 2019 Season a great success as well as creating a culture of purpose for future players.”
Roiz thanked all of his players, parents, assistant coaches, and staff for working so hard and making a difference throughout the season. Roiz added that the Mavericks baseball players gained valuable experience and developed from boys into young men with leadership qualities.
