Eagle Pass Eagles Rey Rey Mendoza Named 2019 District 29-6A Baseball MVP, 10 Eagles Receive All-District Honors

Eagle Pass High School Eagles Head Baseball Coach Reynol Mendoza announced that a total of 10 Eagles were named to the 2019 District 29-6A All-District Baseball Team and that standout pitcher and outfielder Rey Rey Mendoza was named unanimously back to back the District’s Most Valuable Player by the District Head Baseball Coaches.
Rey Rey Mendoza’s extraordinary performance in District 29-6A this year earned him the unanimous selection among the District Coaches as the Most Valuable Player for the second consecutive year (back to back), the highest honor and respect a baseball player can earn.
Rey Rey Mendoza is now taking his talent to play for the University of Houston Cougars Baseball Team, an NCAA Division I collegiate program in the American Athletic Conference.
Two Eagles were named to the elite 2019 District 29-6A All-District Baseball First Team, including Second Baseman Jacob Ruiz and Outfielder Hector Montoya.
Four Eagles were named to the 2019 District 29-6A All-District Baseball Second Team, including Outfielder Edward Mendoza, First Baseman Braulio Rodriguez, Pitcher Roly Riza, and Pitcher Sergio Lopez.
Two Eagles were named to the 2019 District 29-6A All-District Baseball Honorable Mention Team, including Outfielder Victor Perry and Shortstop Isaac Gonzalez.
Four Eagles were named to the prestigious 2019 District 29-6A All-Academic Team, including Rey Rey Mendoza, Victor Perry, Isaac Gonzalez, and Kevin Ochoa.
The Eagle Pass Eagles enjoyed a great season in 2019 with a third-place finish in District 29-6A and qualifying for the Bi-District Championship Series against the McAllen High School Bulldogs.
The Eagle Pass Business Journal congratulates Rey Rey Mendoza on being named back to back District 29-6A Baseball Most Valuable Player and the nine other Eagles named on the 2019 District 29-6A All-District Baseball honors.
