Honduran Female Undocumented Immigrant Collapses after Detention and Dies at Hospital ER

A Honduran female undocumented immigrant, approximately 40 years old, collapsed shortly after crossing the Rio Grande River and placed under detention by U.S. Border Patrol agents in Eagle Pass, Texas on Monday, June 3, 2019 and was transported to the Fort Duncan Regional Medical Center Emergency Room for medical treatment where she passed away.
Eagle Pass Fire Department Chief Manuel Mello confirmed that the Honduran female undocumented immigrant fainted shortly after crossing the Rio Grande while under Border Patrol detention and was rushed to the local hospital’s emergency room by the Eagle Pass Fire Department EMS ambulance, but the female immigrant passed away while at the emergency room.
A Maverick County Justice of the Peace pronounced the Honduran female undocumented immigrant deceased and ordered an autopsy be done to determine the cause of death.
