Elias Diaz, LMFT, Announces Candidacy for Eagle Pass City Council Place 2

Maverick County Hospital District Mental Health Clinician Elias Diaz, LMFT, announced on Wednesday, November 20, 2019, his candidacy for the Eagle Pass City Council Place 2 position in the upcoming February 1, 2020 City Special Officers Election at a gathering among family and friends.
Diaz stated that he is seeking the City Council Place 2 position because Councilman Rudy Villalpando has announced that he is seeking to run for Mayor, thus vacating the City Council Place 2 post.
Diaz stated that he has many years as a community leader with various non-profit organizations and groups and now wishes to channel his leadership experience to enact a culture of change in the community with a diverse and rich in culture environment for all the citizens of Eagle Pass to enjoy.
Diaz noted that he is putting all of his love and passion into his campaign for the City Council Place 2 post because he loves the community and seeks to be a contributor to a thriving economy and increased quality of life.
Diaz will be officially registering his candidacy with City Secretary Imelda B. Rodriguez immediately to formalize his announcement to the community made on November 20, 2019.
The Eagle Pass City Council approved on November 18, 2019 a City Special Officers Election for February 1, 2020 as a result of Mayor Ramsey English Cantu’s announcement of seeking the Texas House of Representatives District 74 post as well as some City Council members indicating that they were going to seek the position of Mayor.
Currently, two City Council members, Rudy Villalpando and Luis E. Sifuentes, have announced and registered their candidacies for Mayor with City Secretary Imelda B. Rodriguez for the February 1, 2020 City Special Officers Election, thus opening up Places 2 and 4 on the City Council for election on February 1st.
Interested candidates for Mayor or City Council Places 2 and 4 may register with City Secretary Imelda B. Rodriguez until December 2, 2019 at the Eagle Pass City Hall.
Early voting for the February 1, 2020 City Special Officers Election commences on January 15, 2020 and runs through January 28, 2020 at the Eagle Pass Multi-Purpose Center. Election Day is Saturday, February 1, 2020 at the Multi-Purpose Center.
