23 Democratic Candidates Register for Maverick County Races, Sheriff Tom Schmerber Unopposed

Maverick County Democratic Party Chairperson Juanita V. Martinez announced that a total of 23 candidates registered for Maverick County political races as of the candidate registration deadline of December 9, 2019 for the March 3, 2020 Texas Democratic Party Primary Election, including Maverick County Sheriff Tom Schmerber and Maverick County Tax-Assessor-Collector Isamari Sanchez-Villarreal are unopposed in their respective positions.
For Maverick County Attorney, Gloria E. Hernandez and Jaime “AJ” Iracheta registered for this position. Hernandez currently holds the position by Maverick County Commissioners Court appointment for the unexpired term, while Iracheta previously held the position by appointment from the Maverick County Commissioners Court, too.
In the Maverick County Commissioner Precinct 1 race, incumbent Gerardo “Jerry” Morales will have one challenger in local police officer Roberto Martinez.
For Maverick County Commissioner Precinct 3 race, incumbent Pete Venegas, Jr. will face local community volunteer Olga Ramos.
In the Maverick County Constable Precinct 1 race, incumbent Rudy Valdez drew two opponents in local police officers Jose “Coche” Duran and Oscar “Ram” Ramos.
For the Maverick County Constable Precinct 2 race, five candidates are seeking this position, including police officer Alberto “Beto” De La Torre, security officer Ernie Leija, reserve deputy Denise Cantu, reserve officer Cesar Torres, and deputy sheriff Enrique “Kike” Velez.
In the Maverick County Constable Precinct 3-1 Precinct race, incumbent Mario Hernandez faces challenger Juan Antonio Silva.
For the Maverick County Constable Precinct 3-2 race, incumbent Samuel “Sam” Chacon drew a challenger in local security officer Julio Mancha.
In the Maverick County Constable Precinct 4 race, incumbent Jose Regalado, Jr. faces two challengers in local deputy constable Joe “Mike” Beattie and police officer Hector “Big Rod” Rodriguez.
Early voting for the March 3, 2020 Primary Election commences on Tuesday, February 18, 2020 and continues until Friday, February 28, 2020.
Any Maverick County citizen who wants to vote in the March 3, 2020 Primary Election must be a registered voter. If a person is not registered, the deadline to register in the March 3, 2020 Primary Election is Monday, February 3, 2020 with Maverick County Election Administrator Roy Schmerber at 501 E.
