Border Patrol Agents Arrest Nine After Vehicle Pursuit

(Press Release) – U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the Brackettville Station were involved in a vehicle pursuit that resulted in the arrest of nine illegal aliens, Dec. 14.

“Smugglers often try to evade law enforcement and in doing so, they place the traveling public and those being smuggled at risk,” said Del Rio Sector Chief Patrol Agent Raul L. Ortiz. “Our coordination efforts with our law enforcement partners continues to pay off. The communication and execution by all agencies involved in this event contributed to the safe law enforcement resolution.”

Agents assigned to the Brackettville Station attempted to perform a vehicle stop on a 2011 Chevrolet Silverado on Ranch Road 674. The driver of the pickup truck failed to yield to agents and fled. With the assistance of Edwards County Sheriff’s Office, and a helicopter from CBP Air and Marine Operations, the vehicle was discovered south of Highway 377 where it had driven off-road. Agents followed foot sign from the abandoned vehicle into the brush where they arrested nine illegal aliens, all Mexican nationals, ranging from ages 18-34.

All illegal aliens were processed in accordance with U.S. Customs and Border Protection guidelines.
