Seven Candidates Register for City of Eagle Pass Special Officers Election to be held February 1, 2020

A total of seven candidates have registered for the City of Eagle Pass Special Officers Election to be held on February 1, 2020, announced City Secretary Imelda B. Rodriguez.
After the resignation of Mayor Ramsey English Cantu on November 12, 2020 in order to run as a candidate for the Texas House of Representative District 74 Democratic Party Primary Election, the Eagle Pass City Council approved an Ordinance calling for a Special City Officers Election at their November 18, 2019 meeting with an election date of February 1, 2020 for the vacant Mayor’s position.
Two Eagle Pass City Council members registered for the vacant Mayor’s position on the February 1, 2020 ballot, specifically Luis E. Sifuentes and Rudy Villalpando, causing two City Council positions to become open for the February 1st election, Places 2 and 4.
Registering for the Eagle Pass City Council Place 2 position are Elias Diaz, Elizabeth Chisum De La Garza, and Frank Sanchez.
Registering for the Eagle Pass City Council Place 4 position are Rolando Salinas and Mayito Obregon.
While the deadline to register for the position of Mayor has already closed, the deadline to register for the Eagle Pass City Council Places 2 and 4 positions remains open until December 23, 2019. Any individual interested in registering for either City Council Place 2 or 4 may do so with City Secretary Imelda B. Rodriguez at City Hall, 100 South Monroe Street.
Early voting for the City of Eagle Pass Special Officers Election starts on January 15, 2020 and continues until January 28, 2020 at the Multi-Purpose Center and Election Day voting is on Saturday, February 1, 2020 at the Multi-Purpose Center.
