Eagle Pass City Special Officers Election Results: Luis E. Sifuentes Edges Rudy Villalpando for Mayor, Rolando Salinas Easily Wins City Council Place 4, and Elias Diaz and Elizabeth Chisum De La Garza Headed to Runoff Election for City Council Place 4

A total of 4,311 City of Eagle Pass, Texas registered voters cast their ballots in the City Special Officers Election held on Saturday, February 1, 2020, electing Luis E. Sifuentes as new Mayor over Rudy Villalpando, Rolando Salinas easily winning City Council Place 4 over Mayito Obregon, and Elias Diaz and Elizabeth Chisum De La Garza heading into a Runoff Election for City Council Place 2 while Frank “Franky” Sanchez coming in a distant third and forcing a Runoff.
In the Mayoral race, Luis E. Sifuentes received a total of 2,227 votes (52.47%) compared to Rudy Villalpando’s 2,017 votes (47.53%), a slim margin of only 210 votes,
In the City Council Place 4 race, local attorney Rolando Salinas crushed Mayito Obregon, garnering 3,096 votes (73.38%) compared to 1,123 votes for Obregon, a victory margin of 1,973 votes.
In the City Council Place 2 race, none of the three candidates received a majority vote of 50.1% or greater to claim victory, but Elias Diaz received a total of 1,804 (42.86%) votes while Elizabeth Chisum De La Garza received 1,766 votes (41.96% and Frank “Franky” Sanchez obtained 639 votes (15.18%) to force the runoff between Diaz and Chisum De La Garza.
