Former Maverick County Sheriff Tomas “Tom” S. Herrera passed away on Sunday, October 11, 2020, during the evening at his home in Hopedale in Eagle Pass, Texas, according to a reliable source.
Former Sheriff Herrera served two terms as Maverick County Sheriff after having served for many years as the Chief Deputy for former Sheriff Tom Bowles.
Sheriff Herrera was well-liked and highly regarded in the community as well as in law enforcement. He participated in many organizations, groups, and activities within the community.
