Democrat Roland Gutierrez Topples Republican Incumbent Peter P. “Pete” Flores in Texas Senate District 19 Race

San Antonio State Representative and Democrat Roland Gutierrez toppled Republican incumbent State Senator Peter P. “Pete” Flores in District 19 in a close election on Tuesday, November 3, 2020, according to the Texas Secretary of State results posted online.
Roland Gutierrez received a total of 156,741 votes while Peter P. “Pete” Flores garnered 146,395 votes in the largest geographic-wise senate district in Texas, a winning margin of 10,346 votes.
In Maverick County, Gutierrez obtained a total of 7,951 votes while Flores got 5,882 votes, an advantage of 2,069 votes in Maverick County.
Gutierrez is a past City Councilman in the City of San Antonio and a State Representative for San Antonio.
Gutierrez wrestled back Texas Senate District 19 from Republican State Senator Flores after Flores won the historic Democratic Senate Seat in a special election in 2018.
Texas Senate District 19 stretches across 17 counties from Maverick County (Eagle Pass) to Bexar County (San Antonio) to West Texas and just south of El Paso.
