130 Maverick County Homebound Residents Receive COVID-19 Vaccine by Texas Army National Guard, Plus 241 More at Cruz Munoz Gymnasium

A total of 130 Maverick County homebound residents received a Johnson and Johnson COVID-19 vaccine from a medical team assigned to the Texas Army National Guard on Wednesday, March 24, 2021, announced Leopoldo “Polo” Vielma, Co-Director of the joint Eagle Pass and Maverick County Emergency Operations Center (EOC).
Vielma stated that the homebound residents who received the vaccine were people with disabilities, senior citizens, and those who do not have any means of transportation. Vielma noted that the vaccine recipients were grateful and pleased to be receiving the COVID-19 vaccine in their homes.
In addition, Vielma reported that another 241 Maverick County residents age 50 or older received the single dose Johnson and Johnson COVID-19 vaccine on Thursday, March 25, 2021, at the City of Eagle Pass Cruz Antonio Munoz Gymnasium by a medical team assigned to the Texas Army National Guard.
Vielma thanked the medical team from the Texas Army National Guard for traveling to Eagle Pass and Maverick County and vaccinating a total of 371 local residents with the Johnson and Johnson single dose COVID-19 vaccine.
Vielma reminded Maverick County residents that the EOC is hosting a second dose COVID-19 vaccine clinic on Saturday, March 27, 2021, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the City of Eagle Pass International Center for Trade, 3295 Bob Rogers Drive, Eagle Pass, Texas. The second dose vaccine is for Maverick County residents who received their first dose on February 24, 2021. EOC staff have already contacted all the persons scheduled to take their second dose vaccine on Saturday, March 27.
Vielma added that EOC will continue to work with all local healthcare providers as well as state programs to vaccinate all adults in Maverick County with the COVID-19 vaccine.
Vielma noted that starting on Monday, March 29, 2021, all Texans age 16 or older will be eligible to receive their COVID-19 vaccine and encourages all Maverick County residents to get vaccinated to protect themselves, families, and the community from coronavirus spreading within Maverick County.
