The mighty Eagle Pass High School Lady Eagles Softball under the direction of Head Coach Oscar Ruiz clinched the 2021 District 30-6A Co-Championship and soundly defeated District Co-Champion Laredo LBJ Lady Wolves 10-0 on Saturday, April 24, 2021 in a one game first place playoff game at the San Antonio Independent School District Softball Complex in San Antonio, Texas.
During the regular season, the Lady Eagles and LBJ Lady Wolves split their two game series. Both teams finished the regular district play at 10-2, sharing the District Softball Championship.
But on Saturday, April 24, 2021, both teams tangled once again to determine which team would represent District 30-6A as the first place team in the state playoffs at a neutral site in San Antonio.
The Lady Eagles came out swinging the bats in the playoff seeding game with Kaylynne Ruiz blasting a two run home run and finishing three for four with three runs batted in for the game, while teammates Karyna Perez and Lashay Reyes each plated two hits contributing to the offensive assault.
Lady Eagles pitchers Valerie Vielma and Alyssa Galvan combined in the circle to dominate the potent LBJ Lady Wolves hitters during the game, shutting them out with a dominant 10-0 victory to earn the first place playoff seeding game.
The Eagle Pass Lady Eagles by virtue of their win over the LBJ Lady Wolves will now play against the San Antonio Harlan High School Lady Hawks in the Bi-District Championship playoffs in a two out of three series commencing on Friday, April 30, 2021 at 6 p.m. with Game 1 at the Eagle Pass Independent School District Student Activity Center Softball Field in Eagle Pass. Game 2 of the series will be played on Saturday, May 1, 2021 at the San Antonio Northside Independent School District Softball Complex at 2 p.m. If a Game 3 is necessary, it will be played 30 minutes following Game 2 at the San Antonio Northside ISD Softball Complex.
