Maverick County Offering Financial Assistance to Individuals and Businesses Affected by COVID-19

Maverick County Judge David R. Saucedo announced Maverick County Commissioners Court approved to provide financial assistance to local residents and businesses whose income was affected by COVID-19 through the Coronavirus Local Fiscal Recovery Fund under the American Rescue Plan. All Maverick County individuals and businesses seeking financial assistance must apply at the Middle Rio Grande Workforce, located at 1200 Ferry Street, Suite 213 and 217 (Second Floor), Eagle Pass, Texas 78852, Telephone Number (830) 294-0999.
Judge Saucedo stated that as a result of the extraordinary need for financial assistance due to COVID-19 among local residents and businesses, the financial assistance program is anticipated being extremely popular and interested persons and businesses should apply immediately as the available funding will be quickly exhausted.
Maverick County received a total of $11.5 Million from the American Rescue Plan approved by Congress under the leadership of President Joe Biden. The American Rescue Plan was approved by Democrats in Congress while all Republicans voted against it.
Individual applicants must be Maverick County residents and demonstrate an income decrease of at least 15% because of the COVID-19 Pandemic to receive financial assistance. Individual applicants may qualify for financial assistance if their annual gross income is less than $75,000 for Single filers, less than $112,500 for Head of Household filers, and less than $150,000 for Married Joint filers.
The amount of financial assistance applicants may receive is $500 per adult in the household, $1,000 per each adult over the age of 65, and $1,000 per child. The total amount of financial assistance that may be awarded to a household shall not exceed $5,000.
Individual applicants will be required to demonstrate eligibility through documents such as their federal income tax returns, W-9s, employment verification letters, bank statements, paycheck stubs, or unemployment benefits pay summary. Other forms of proof may be required.
Business applicants must be Maverick County residents and demonstrate either an income decrease of at least 15% or increase of payroll cost may be eligible to receive financial assistance. The amount of financial assistance recipients may receive will be 20% of net revenue lost as shown on their 2019 and 2020 federal tax returns. The amount of financial assistance awarded to businesses may not exceed $5,000. Businesses with the same owner of more than 50%, only one business entity will be eligible for assistance.
Maverick County businesses applying for financial assistance will need to provide their 2019 and 2020 federal income tax returns. Other documents accepted to demonstrate loss of at least 15%f income include sales use tax statements, bank account statements, proof of payroll increase or W-3.
The financial assistance will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis subject to proof of eligibility.
