Eagle Pass Winn Mavericks Face Crystal City Javelinas in 2021 Football Season Opener

The Eagle Pass C. C. Winn High School Thundering Mavericks face the Crystal City High School Fighting Javelinas in the 2021 football season opener for both teams on Friday, August 27, 2021 at 7:30 p.m. at Crystal City Independent School District Football Stadium in Crystal City, Texas.
Mavericks Head Coach Eric Villasenor stated the team is anxious and excited to start the 2021 season after having an outstanding Spring Football training program and individual summer training.
The Mavericks are seeking to win the highly competitive District 14-5A, Division I and advance deep into the state playoffs. Last year, the Mavericks won Bi-District against San Antonio Lanier High School Voks and advanced to Area where they fell to the Victoria West High School Titans, finishing 5-3 overall in the shortened COVID-19 season.
Coach Villasenor announced the Mavericks starting offensive and defensive players for the Crystal City Javelinas season opener. On offense, the Mavericks potent offense will be led by quarterback Abraham Rodriguez, running back Jeremiah Robinson, halfback Patrick Solis, wide receivers Eric Martinez, Alan Roli Jimenez, and Alan Vielma, place kicker and punter Almikar Ramos, and powered by offensive tackles Erick Flores and Jorge Martinez, guards Hector Saldana and Jose Reyes, and center Jimmy Joe Lopez.
On defense, the Mavericks wrecking crew will be led by linebackers Jaime Barrientos and Jose Pablo Ramos, defensive tackles Adrian Morales and Juan Estrada, defensive ends Michael Hernandez and Victor Alonzo, strong safety Almikar Ramos, weak safety Fernando Franco, free safety Juan Martinez, and cornerbacks Jonathon Martinez and Alejandro Picazo.
The Mavericks have a total of 49 players on their varsity roster at the start of the season.
The Mavericks Offensive Coordinator is Heriberto Roiz, Co-Defensive Coordinators are Saul Salas and Rene Ramirez, Co-Special Teams Coordinators are J.J. Iracheta and Carlos Soto, and Assistant Coaches are Domingo Lopez, Federico Paniagua, Ricardo Hoffman, Johnny Hernandez, Randy Garza, Tony Martinez, Rolando Salinas, Jr., Eric Ramos, Roberto Hoffman, Juan Reyes, Juan Tovar, Paulo Valero, and Justin Fuentes. The Mavericks Athletic Trainers are Dwight Arganbright and Edgar Gonzalez Dominguez.
