An early morning multi-agency law enforcement raid led by the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) at a residence on the 1300 Block of George Street in Eagle Pass, Texas on Tuesday, December 14, 2021 was conducted, resulting in the detention of an Eagle Pass Police Department Detective, Hazel Diaz, at her workplace in the Eagle Pass Public Safety Headquarters, located at 489 S. Monroe Street.
Law enforcement agents from the FBI, Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), National Guard members, and a SWAT Team participated in the early morning raid at the residence and subsequent detention of Diaz at the Eagle Pass Police Department. Diaz was transported by FBI agents to Del Rio, Texas.
Earlier in the year, the FBI and other agencies had conducted a raid on several rental properties either managed or owned by Diaz in Eagle Pass.
As of press time, it is unknown the specific charges upon which Diaz was detained by the FBI.
An individual detained by law enforcement agents is presumed to be innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court at law.
