Judith Canales Hired as Executive Director of Eagle Pass-Maverick County Economic Development Alliance

Maverick County Commissioners Court unanimously approved the hiring of Judith “Judy” Canales as Executive Director of the newly formed Eagle Pass-Maverick County Economic Development Alliance at a special meeting held on Tuesday, December 7, 2021.
Canales recently served as the Executive Director of the Southside First Economic Development Council in San Antonio, Texas since 2019 until her resignation in November 2021 to accept the same position with the Eagle Pass-Maverick County Economic Development Alliance in Eagle Pass, Texas.
Canales is highly regarded in the state of Texas and United States as a professional economic development expert.
Former President Barack Obama appointed Canales to serve as the Texas state Executive Director for USDA Farm Service Agency.
Canales also previously served as the Executive Director of the Maverick County Development Corporation for several years in Eagle Pass.
Canales has extensive leadership experience at the local, state, and national levels. Her economic development leadership experience will now be serving Eagle Pass and Maverick County in attracting new businesses and industries to the Texas-Mexico border and developing new partnerships with state and national agencies and private industry.
Canales also served as Assistant City Manager of the City of Eagle Pass.
