Maverick County Candidates Register for Texas Primary Election on March 1, 2022

With the Texas Political Candidate Registration period closed on Monday, December 13, 2021, a total of 34 Maverick County residents have registered for a political post in the Texas Primary Election on Tuesday, March 1, 2021.
In the Democratic Party, a total of 25 candidates from Maverick County registered for the Texas Democratic Party Primary Election, said Juanita V. Martinez, Maverick County Democratic Party Chairperson. A total of nine candidates registered in the Maverick County Republican Primary Election.
For Texas House of Representative District 74, incumbent Heriberto “Eddie” Morales of Eagle Pass registered for a second term unopposed in the Democratic Party Primary on March 1, 2022, but will face Republican Party candidate Katherine Parker in the General Election on November 8, 2022.
In the Maverick County Judge race, two Democrats and one Republican candidates registered. In the Democratic Party Primary, incumbent David R. Saucedo seeks re-election to a fourth term against former Eagle Pass Mayor Ramsey English Cantu. In the Republican Party, Armando Rosales is unopposed and will face the winner between Saucedo and Cantu in the November 8, 2022 General Election.
For 365th Judicial District Court Judge for Dimmit, Maverick, and Zavala counties, two Democrats registered, including incumbent Amado J. Abascal who is seeking a ninth term and challenger Edgar Hugo Juarez.
In the 293rd Judicial District Court Judge for Dimmit, Maverick, and Zavala counties, incumbent Maribel Flores registered unopposed for a second term in the Democratic Party Primary.
For Maverick County District Clerk, incumbent Leopoldo “Polo” Vielma registered unopposed in the Democratic Primary, but will face Republican Party candidate Teresa Gonzalez in the November 8, 2022 General Election.
In the Maverick County Clerk race, incumbent Sara Montemayor seeks re-election and is unopposed in the Democratic Party Primary.
For Maverick County Tax Assessor-Collector, Jesus Casas and Asalia Casares registered in the Democratic Party Primary.
In the Maverick County Treasurer race, incumbent Rito J. Valdez, III seeks re-election unopposed in the Democratic Party Primary, but will face Republican Party candidate Omar E. Rodriguez in the General Election on November 8, 2022.
For Maverick County Commissioner Precinct No. 2, incumbent Rosy Cantu seeks re-election and is being challenged by Rosanna “Roxi” Rios and Sergio Nandin in the Democratic Party Primary, and the winner will face Republican Party candidate Jose Fernando Rodriguez in the General Election on November 8, 2022.
In the Maverick County Commissioner Precinct No. 4 race, incumbent Roberto Ruiz seeks re-election and is being challenged by former Eagle Pass Mayor Luis E. Sifuentes in the Democratic Party Primary, and the winner will face Republican Party candidate Alma Soliz in the General Election on November 8, 2022.
For Maverick County Justice of the Peace Precinct No. 1, incumbent Kina Mancha seeks re-election unopposed in the Democratic Party Primary, but will face Republican Party candidate Anna Derbez in the General Election on November 8, 2022.
In the Maverick County Justice of the Peace Precinct No. 2, Leeroy Euresti, Dora Madera, and Ernie Leija registered for the Democratic Party Primary.
For Maverick County Justice of the Peace Precinct No. 3 (AB), Place 1, incumbent Domingo “Mingo” Rodriguez seeks re-election and is being challenged by Jorge Raul “Rule” Olivas in the Democratic Party Primary, and the winner will face Republican Party candidate Mark Garcia in the General Election on November 8, 2022.
In the Maverick County Justice of the Peace Precinct 3 (C), Place 2, incumbent Jeannie Smith seeks re-election unopposed in the Democratic Party Primary.
For Maverick County Justice of the Peace Precinct No. 4, incumbent Tere Hernandez seeks re-election and is being challenged by Maribel Garcia-Rodriguez in the Democratic Party Primary, and the winner will face Republican Party candidate Antonio Garcia in the General Election on November 8, 2022.
In the Maverick County Democratic Party Chairperson post, incumbent Juanita V. Martinez is unopposed while Maverick County Republican Party Chairperson Alfredo Arellano is unopposed.
