2022 Maverick County Junior Livestock Show Sale Tops $395,000

The 2022 Maverick County Junior Livestock Show Sale reported total sales of exhibitor animal projects of over $395,000, said David Rodriguez and Olga Ramos, Sales Committee Co-Directors of the Maverick County Junior Livestock Show Association (MCJLS).
Ramos stated “the MCJLS Board of Directors, all of the 4-H and FFA exhibitors, and volunteers of the 2022 MCJLS Sale deeply appreciate and thank all of the local and out of town businesses, individuals, and organizations that purchased one of the over 165 youth animals exhibited at this year’s show. The buyers tremendous support of our youth and the MCJLS allowed us to break last year’s previous sales record of $351,000.”
The Grand Champion Market Steer exhibited by Osvaldo Rodriguez sold for $12,500 and was purchased by last year’s top buyer, Minit Mart Convenience Stores of Uvalde, Texas, owned by the Pete Neutze family.
The Grand Champion Market Lamb shown by Jimena Molina sold for $2,100 and was purchased by Comanche Ranch.
The Grand Champion Market Swine (hog) exhibited by Alyssa Duran sold for $6,100 and was purchased Minit Mart Convenience Stores of Uvalde, Texas.
The Grand Champion Market Goat shown by Anahi Molina sold for $4,300 and was purchased by Dr. Hector Alvarez, Eagle Pass Dental Clinic, and Friendly Pharmacy.
The Reserve Champion Market Steer exhibited by Lucas Salinas sold for $4,000 and was purchased by Ancira Ford and Cinco Cattle Company.
The Reserve Champion Market Lamb shown by Brylyn Wall sold for $3,700 and was purchased by Morris and Dora Libson and Family.
The Reserve Champion Market Swine (hog) exhibited by Emily Torres sold for $4,800 and was purchased by Fort Duncan Regional Medical Center.
The Reserve Champion Market Goat shown by Andrea Ruiz sold for $5,000 and was purchased by Eagle Quality Ready Mix, LLC and Duvall Cement Company.
In addition, another 157 animals were sold at the 2022 MCJLS Sale and the attentive buyers stayed until the last animal was sold.
The 2022 MCJLS Sale was a great success thanks to the loyal and dedicated buyers from Eagle Pass, Uvalde, San Antonio, and surrounding area who participated in buying one or more animals exhibited by Maverick County 4-H and FFA members.
