City of Eagle Pass Economic Development Department Director Arturo Marquez announced the City is hosting a series of community workshops for local citizens to provide public comments and ideas on the Eagle Pass Downtown Master Plan during January 11-13, 2022 at the Eagle Pass Arts and Culture Center, located at 364 Main Street, Suite 1, Eagle Pass, Texas.
Marquez stated the City of Eagle Pass is currently developing its Downtown Master Plan and seek public comments from local citizens at three community workshops, also known as “charrettes,” to brainstorm on developing a shared vision by local citizens, businesses, and stakeholders on the future of Downtown Eagle Pass.
The first workshop or charrette will be held on Tuesday, January 11, 2022 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Eagle Pass Arts and Culture Center, focusing on “hands-on design session and kick-off presentation.”
The second workshop or charrette is on Wednesday, January 12, at 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., focusing on an “open studio” session for local citizens and stakeholders to give their ideas on what they would like to see in Downtown Eagle Pass.
The third workshop or charrette is on Thursday, January 13, at 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. for the presentation of a final master plan vision-work in progress.
Marquez encourages all local citizens, businesses, entrepreneurs, and stakeholders to participate in the community workshops or charrette to have their input taken into consideration and making a difference in the development of the Downtown Master Plan.
The City of Eagle Pass has received a grant from the U.S. Department of Commerce Development Agency (EDA) to design, develop, construct and operate a Small Business Incubator at the historic Riskind’s Building in downtown Eagle Pass, adjacent to the Eagle Pass Arts and Culture Center.
Currently, there are a mixture of businesses in downtown Eagle Pass from retail stores, grocery and meat market, pubs and restaurants, apartments, transportation centers, banks, and professional offices such as medical, legal, and others.
